Healthcare careers are the most promising and rapidly growing occupations nationally and statewide. Allied healthcare careers are among the vocations projected to grow. Locally, a profession such as certified nursing assistant constitutes the largest employment in San Diego and Imperial counties. According to the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Statistics, national CNA ( certified nurse assistant ) employment projections between the years 2014 and 2024 estimate growth of 17% or approximately 267,800 jobs. In California, 99,440 working CNAs make the state the largest CNA employer in the nation. According to the San Diego Workforce Partnership, CNA employment is an in-demand category with an average annual income of $30,930 in San Diego County.
